Time works in cycles: Days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries and on into oblivion. The key to living a better life is breaking the wheel, and changing the pattern that you are on to the one that you envision for yourself.
“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”

Cycles and New Year’s Resolutions:
Time works in circles and cycles. Everything from a 24 hour day, to a seven day week, a 12 month year fits into a nice, neat little circle that defines us. What we do with these cycles is totally up to us. It is absolutely no surprise to me that our philosophical minds see the New Year as a chance to close one chapter of our stories as we move into the next one. A blank page to be rewritten as we promise ourselves, our loved ones and society that we will change our stories. See in the circle of life what has been written cannot be written over, there is no delete button to magically erase what has happened in the past and we have to hold ourselves accountable for that. Here in the present we get the chance to write something we can be proud of, so that at the end of the day we can be proud of our story.
I think this is why I have always been slightly a pessimist when it comes to New Year’s resolutions. I myself have made resolutions, only to burn out after a few weeks or months, because I was unprepared for the dedication it truly takes to break the wheel and write a better story. This burn out usually results in failure. So, it surprises even me that I am starting a blog about breaking the cycle and living a healthier life going into the New Year. Success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. So a resolution that you make on New Year’s that does not have a plan or goals set in place is probably going to fail. It’s okay if this has been an ongoing thing in life, I know for me it has been, but it doesn’t have to be this way. If you are going to make a resolution, then start by making a plan. Actually, this little blog is part of my plan to live better and set my New Year’s resolutions up for success this year!
My name is Kristy and I am 35 years young. As a stay at home mom, I have plenty of bad habits to break. Breaking Cycles is a blog dedicated to my successes, failures, struggles, and what works, or does not work on my journey to becoming a better mother and person. Breaking cycles starts with taking care of your mind, body and spirit and I want 2020 to be the best year I have had yet. The months of November and December have been spent forming a plan to quit smoking, lose weight, get a skin condition I have under control, and be a better and happier me. I am hoping that creating this blog helps me and other people like me, that have always had a hard time staying on track.
